Housed in the same building where Harry Truman worked his first job at Crown Drug Store, Clinton’s Soda Fountain is a historic jewel on the Independence Square. Phosphates, effervescent soft drinks with soda water and flavoringthat originated in late 18th century France, are a popular choice for visitors. Or, if you’re craving something sweeter, sample one of the many different ice creams, malts or shakes. Either way you’ll discover a piece of history while enjoying dessert.
Monday – Saturday: 11 am – 8 pm; Closed Sundays
From Kansas City, take I-70 East to Truman Road and turn east. Stay on Truman Road for about seven miles and turn south onto N Osage Street. Then go east on W Maple Ave.
“I love old-fashioned soda shops like this! Two of us shared a “Mudslide” and it was delicious. If you stop in, check out the gender-specific packaging on the old toys for sale-pretty interesting that they did that back in the day! Casual – perfect for families – but yet also romantic – perfect for a date. Pricing seemed reasonable.” – Stacie G.
